Valerie Red-Horse is owner/founder of RED-HORSE NATIVE PRODUCTIONS, a preeminent film/television production company dedicated to bringing important Native stories accurately and respectfully to the screen. Red-Horse’s body of work spans over two decades as an award winning director, producer, actress and writer; she is a member of both the Directors and Screen Actors Guilds. The Company’s projects include: NATURALLY NATIVE, a Sundance independent feature film as well as TRUE WHISPERS and CHOCTAW CODE TALKERS both award-winning documentaries for PBS.
Red-Horse is also owner/founder of RED-HORSE FINANCIAL GROUP, INC., and as a registered securities professional has more than 30 years in-depth experience in the financial services/investment banking industry with a unique expertise in tribal and gaming finance including debt restructuring, taxable issuance, private placements, municipal issuance, high yield bond transactions, leveraged finance and management turnaround.
Red-Horse has led over fifty financial mandates totaling in excess of $2 billion dollars in transactions for American Indian Tribal Nations. Recognized as an Indian Country expert, Red-Horse writes several gaming and tribal finance focused columns for various industry publications and is the host for Casino Enterprise Management’s Native American Gaming live web cast talk show.
Red-Horse was inducted into the NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) Hall of Fame in 2008. Red-Horse is the founder of two non-profit organizations and heads a ministry serving the elders and children of the White Earth Ojibwe Community in Cass Lake as well as a ministry serving women in rehabilitation in downtown Los Angeles. Red-Horse has been married since 1982 (to former NFL pro Curt Mohl) and has three children.
